3D Celestial Sphere & Observational Simulator

Train for the IOAA Observational Round on an interactive 3D celestial sphere built from real astronomical catalog coordinates. Identify bright navigation stars, estimate visual magnitudes, and locate Messier/Caldwell Deep Sky Objects without coordinate grids.

    Controls & Navigation:

    • Panning: Left-click and drag across the sky to rotate the celestial sphere.
    • Optical Zoom: Scroll wheel to adjust Field of View (FOV) and inspect dense star fields.
    • Target Lock: Click directly on any star or Deep Sky Object to lock the reticle.

    Simulation Modes:

    • Singleplayer: Timed 5, 15, or 30-minute drills across Name Identification, Spectral/Object Classification, Target Pinpointing, and Magnitude Estimation.
    • Arena (1v1 & Ranked ELO): Compete locally, against calibrated AI bots, or in live online rooms.
    • Tournaments: Multi-player Elimination, Classic Brackets, or the 36-competitor Champions Cup.
    • Constellations: Speed-run individual IAU constellations to earn Bronze, Silver, and Gold completion medals.
